MultiVersus Returns with Unreal Engine 5

MultiVersus, the popular platform fighting game, returns on May 28, 2024 . The re-release of the game comes with many exciting innovations, including new characters, improved graphics, PvE mode and more.

MultiVersus includes various Warner Bros. franchises, including DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Cartoon Network, Game of Thrones, Tom & Jerry and Gremlins. is a Smash Bros-style crossover fighting game featuring characters from its properties.

Game director Tony Huynh explained that player feedback played an important role in the development of the game. The team focused on further developing the game using the lessons learned from the open beta.

New Features:
The re-release of MultiVersus will include the following new features:

• Exciting new characters:  New characters will be added to the roster, increasing the diversity and playability of the game.
• Improved graphics:  The game will switch to Unreal Engine 5, offering even more stunning visuals.
• New PvE mode:  A brand new PvE mode will be added to the game where you can earn unique rewards.
• New stages:  New and exciting fighting arenas will be included in the game.
• Improved network code:  The network code will be improved to deliver a smoother and lag-free online experience.
• New moves for each character:  The abilities and gameplay of existing characters will be expanded with new moves.

The Game's Popularity and Decline:
MultiVersus was a huge success when it entered open beta in July 2022. It peaked on Steam with over 143,000 players on the first day and rose to 153,433 the next day. Warner announced that more than 20 million players had downloaded and played the game a month after its release.

However, the game's popularity dropped over time , and in February 2023 the peak daily player count fell below 1,000. This decline can be attributed to several factors, including the long second season and lack of new content.

Re-Return Expectation:
MultiVersus' re-launch in May is seen as an important opportunity to revive the game and win back old fans. New features and content can bring a new breath to the game and increase the number of players again.
