The Highly Anticipated Sequel, Slay the Spire 2, Has Been Announced

Slay the Spire 2 , the sequel to Slay the Spire, the popular roguelike deck builder game and one of the pioneers of the genre, will be released with early access in 2025, according to the announcement made at Triple-i Initiative.

Over the past few years we've seen a significant rise in the roguelike deckbuilding genre with Monster Train, Card Quest, Dicey Dungeons, and many more. Although the genre was just starting to take off, there was one particularly popular game that pushed the genre into the mainstream, 2017's Slay the Spire.

Originally released in early access in 2017, Slay the Spire quickly became one of the most popular roguelikes of the last few years, and this became even more evident when it exited early access in 2019 to rave reviews. Developer MegaCrit has been relatively quiet since the full release of Slay the Spire, but it has been revealed that the company has been working on an exciting sequel in the meantime.

As announced at the Triple-i Initiative event, MegaCrit's next game will be Slay the Spire 2, which was teased with a short but stylish cinematic trailer. The trailer wasn't that long, but at least fans of the first game now know that an official sequel is in the works by the same team that started the roguelike deck-building genre.

The short cinematic trailer doesn't give much information about how Slay the Spire 2 will improve the gameplay of the first game, but the screenshots shared in a press release and also featured on the Steam page at least give us an idea of ​​what the game will look like. For example, one of the screenshots shows encountering a Symbiote that can be killed with fire by removing a random card from your deck or approached by losing six health points.

Although what is reported and what we know about the game is limited to these for now, we hope to receive more information from the MegaCrit team in the coming months.
