Age of Mythology: Retold Coming Later This Year!

Age of Mythology: Retold, the new version of the 2012 Age of Empires spin-off game Age of Mythology, will be released simultaneously on Xbox and PC later this year.

Improved Engine and New Features

Developed by World's Edge and Xbox Game Studios, Age of Mythology: Retold offers many innovations, including an upgraded engine, new character models, updated art, textures, user interface and VFX.

Single-Player and Multiplayer Modes

In the game, players can participate in epic battles in single-player or co-op campaigns by controlling Greek, Norse and Egyptian gods.

Release Date and Platforms

Although Age of Mythology: Retold does not have an exact release date, it is stated that the game will be available on Game Pass on the first day, in addition to being released on Steam and Xbox consoles.

Statement from the Art Director

“In Age of Mythology Retold, we're not only upgrading the engine and bringing all the quality of life improvements you've come to expect from World's Edge, but we're doing even more to update the art,” said art director Melinda Rose. “That means all new 3D models, all new animations, textures, UI, VFX, everything.”

Life-Size AR Models

Rose also presented life-size augmented reality models of Medusa, Pegasus, and Cerberus to demonstrate the updated 3D character models for Age of Mythology: Retold.

Goal: Maximizing Myths

“Our goal is not only to pay homage to the past, but also to breathe new life into this game and maximize the mythology,” Rose said.

Age of Empires Mobile Game is Also Coming

The news of Age of Mythology: Retold also coincides with the announcement that World's Edge and TiMi Studio Group are working together to bring Age of Empires to mobile devices later this year.

An Exciting Year Awaits

2024 looks set to be an exciting year for devoted real-time strategy players across all platforms.

The hope is that Age of Mythology: Retold will continue the work of its predecessor and deliver another full-time RTS title for fans when it launches later this year.
