Cities Skylines 2 Console Version Hits a Dead End
Paradox has indefinitely delayed the console version of Cities Skylines 2. The statement said that the game did not reach the desired performance and stability levels.
Paradox Interactive has delayed the console version of its realistic city-building simulator Cities Skylines 2 once again. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions were originally intended to be released in October 2023, just after the PC launch. But the home math didn’t work out for the market.
The console version was first delayed to spring 2024, and then exactly one year after the PC version, to October 2024. Paradox said in a statement that the console version had been postponed indefinitely because it had not yet met the targeted stability and performance targets.
Cities Skylines 2 Console Release Delayed Indefinitely
“Unfortunately, we have not yet met the stability and performance targets we set for the console version. Without a Release Candidate (RC), we cannot meet the October release window,” the company said on its official forum .
“While we are making slow but steady progress, there are still unresolved issues that are impacting the game in ways that are detrimental to the player experience we want to deliver. We expect to receive a new RC in August, which will undergo a full review. This review will determine whether we can begin the delivery process and provide a solid release date, or if more issues need to be addressed.”
Paradox concluded by stating that they will continue to keep players informed throughout development, despite the process not going as they wanted. Cities Skylines 2 , which has more than half of its reviews on Steam being negative, is on sale for $26.99, a 10 percent discount as part of the summer sale .
