Our Broken Roads Journey Starts on April 10
Our Broken Roads Journey Starts on April 10
1.
Designed as an Australian, isometric RPG similar to Fallout 2 , Broken Roads remains among our most anticipated games for years. This wait finally ends on April 10 .
In fact, last year we thought that the days when we would get Broken Roads were very close. We even had the chance to access the game early and review it . You can check out that review here .
The game had a few shortcomings that overshadowed its impressive storytelling and engaging scenario based on the player's decisions . It was obvious that Drop Bear Bytes needed time to complete these deficiencies . Luckily, their publisher, Versus Evil , thought so too. Although the company was going through difficult times , it did not force the developers to a release date that they were not comfortable with.
Drop Bear Bytes, who had the opportunity to work on Broken Roads for another 5 months , now feels ready to face the players. Moreover, this time they added a mechanic that makes us love cats . They worked on fighting mechanics. The conversation windows and stories were already impressive. As a result, nothing diminished our excitement for this game.
Unfortunately, the team went through a lot of negative events . First, Uncle Charles, who was the main storyteller and narrator of his plays, passed away. Immediately afterwards, the entire team caught coronavirus and took a break from playing the game for a while. They intended to release the game in November and sent review codes to everyone. However, they saw that they could not adequately test these games, which allowed for a very branching story. They postponed the release date of the game. Following this development, their publishing company was closed, and this company was already their second publisher. So, our beloved Drop Bear Bytes has survived many troubles. Fortunately, their enthusiasm for the game and their determination to bring it to us were not damaged by all this.
2. What is Broken Roads About?
Australia, and as far as we know, the whole world is screwed. It is possible to see traces of the old civilization. In fact, the buildings remaining from this civilization are the same buildings we can encounter in today's Australia . But it is difficult to say exactly what happened to that civilization. All we know is that we are now walking in post-apocalyptic lands.
Our main character cooperates with a group he has just met due to his profession. We choose what this profession is and why it collaborates with this new group. Whatever purpose we have come together with them for, we first pursue that purpose, and then we intend to drink a beer and relieve the tiredness of the day. But Broken Roads is here to tell a sad story . The first disappointment we experience is not having the chance to drink our beer that was sweating on the counter.
From that point on, we are scattered in the abandoned lands of Australia . We choose where we go and for what purpose. The important thing is to survive. Or maybe to keep it alive. Even though none of these are important, it's still okay. Because Broken Roads is a game that makes us choose our character's perspective on life. Be a selfish character if you wish, or favor the group you belong to. You choose what you think is important.
Because the important thing may not be where this path leads, but with whom you walk that path. I guess it's also important what drives you on that path. Remember, there is no right or wrong. Whether good or bad... There are just these cracked roads. Choose which one you will walk from .
